A doula offers non-medical guidance and support for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. They empower women and couples to make informed decisions, providing emotional and physical assistance throughout the process. Rooted in ancient traditions, doulas have been supporting women during childbirth for centuries across various cultures.
As a doula, I am your and your partner's support person during pregnancy, labour and post-birth so you can experience an empowered birth. Every pregnancy and birth is different.
It is well known that women who feel supported and safe in labour are more likely to have better outcomes and a smoother recovery. For centuries and in most cultures, women are assisted by a doula, who knows the process of labour and what is required to keep the woman safe and calm so she can do the deep work of birthing her baby.
-
Midwife:
A healthcare professional providing medical care
Can conduct medical assessments and procedures
Doula:
A non-medical support person offering physical, emotional and informational support
Doulas are not licensed healthcare providers and do not perform medical procedures. Instead, they provide support such as massage, breathing techniques, and emotional reassurance to help women cope with the physical and emotional challenges of pregnancy and childbirth.
Focuses on empowering mothers to make informed decisions and ensure a positive birthing experience
Most midwives and hospitals encourage the presence of a doula, as it offers more support for the birthing mother and allows for the medical team to attend to their duties of admin work and looking after other birthing women.
-
A doula does not replace a medical care provider but instead, works alongside to compliment the care provided to the mother by providing all the essential information you need to feel confident and informed. While midwives and doulas have different roles, they can work together to provide comprehensive support to pregnant women. Women can choose to work with both a midwife and a doula to receive medical care and emotional support during their pregnancy and childbirth journey.

With a deep understanding of the physical and emotional needs of birthing individuals, I am dedicated to offering compassionate care, informed guidance, and empowering advocacy throughout the birthing journey.
Currently, I work with Natalie Conoly for mentorship, a Doula located in Steamboat Springs Colorado, meeting weekly for guidance and support. Mother blessing
-
A Mother Blessingway is a supportive and nurturing ceremony held for mama, typically in the late stages of pregnancy.
Unlike traditional baby showers that focus on gifts and baby-related items, a Mother Blessingway is centered on celebrating and honoring the mother-to-be.
The event usually involves gathering close friends and family. The goal is to uplift and affirm mama, making her feel cherished and supported as she transitions into motherhood.
This is completely customizable, collaborative and tailored to you for you!
Below are some rituals that can be facilitated:
Incense: The smoke of the incense can symbolize the flow of life and the growth of new beginnings. Just as the incense smoke rises and spreads, it represents the nurturing and positive energies being sent toward the mother and child, supporting their journey.
Sacred Circle Box: Guests write encouraging affirmations for the mama to be, can be nice to open these notes during early labor, postpartum.
Prenatal Yoga: Flow can be included in the event, restorative or energizing.
Guided Meditation and Relaxation: Center and ground everyone in a space of peace and harmony. Encourage deep breathing, visualization, and mindfulness to promote relaxation and connection.
Walk the path: Foot soak in a basin of warm water infused with essential oils or flower petals. This ancient ritual symbolizes cleansing, grounding, and honoring the mama's journey as she walks the path of motherhood.
Flower Adornment: Leis are often seen as symbols of fertility, beauty, and the continuity of life. For a pregnant woman, receiving leis or being adorned with flowers can represent the celebration of new life, and are believed to offer protection and good luck. Adorning a pregnant woman with these items can be seen as a way to safeguard her and the unborn child, wishing them health, happiness, and a smooth journey ahead. and the nurturing role she is about to take on.
Belly Casting:
Belly casting is a beautiful and meaningful service that involves creating a three-dimensional replica of a pregnant woman's belly using safe, non-toxic materials. The completed cast serves as a heartfelt keepsake, capturing the beauty and essence of pregnancy. Participants can personalize the cast with colors, designs, or messages, making it a cherished symbol of love and support from friends and family.
24k Gold Ear Seeds:
Acupressure in Traditional medicine used to stimulate specific points on the ear to support various aspects of health and well-being. acupressure ear seeds can be a holistic way to support the mother-to-be. They complement the spiritual and emotional aspects of the ceremony by offering tangible benefits for relaxation, pain management, and overall wellness.
